We were pretty excited when Carly & Michael booked us almost two years in advance for their epic winter wedding in Albury.
We’re always happy to travel, especially when someone mentions that we’ll need a 4WD to get to the good photo location! Time to pack the Prado :) Everything was organised remotely as Carly was living in Melbourne and Michael was in western Victoria so Skype meetings were the way to go.
Carly & Michael were high school sweethearts, striking up their first conversation on the way to a school camp in year 9!

The Proposal
After accepting a job in Melbourne, Carly packed up all their belongings and moved states, leaving Michael in Sydney to finish up his own job. They had planned for the engagement ring to be available on 25 April, and Carly was fully expecting a demure proposal then.
”On 25 February, I met my best friend for dinner and a few drinks in the city after work. Later in the evening, I headed home on the train and called Michael in Sydney. We talked on the phone whilst I rode the train home, and walked back to my house. Once I turned the corner to get to our house, I saw this shadowy man standing near the front door. Being new to the city, and suburb, I was very wary. I remember saying to Michael "There's someone near the door! What do I do!". I went closer, and saw he had a suitcase blocking my front door. Mustering up some courage, I loudly said "Sir, could you please move your suitcase?". The man then turned, and said "It's me!". I had no idea who it was, until he came closer and I saw it was Michael. I was so excited to see him, and took him inside to show him around our new house. As soon as we got upstairs, I turned around and he was already on one knee proposing. I was beyond shocked, but it was nice to be suprised!”

The boys started the day getting a haircut and a shave at a cool barber/whiskey bar (I know right) called the Dude Hut! The ceremony was at the beautiful old St Matthew’s church in Albury, with their reception and photos at an amazing property about half an hour out of town - Peregrine’s at Table Top Mountain.
Let’s just say I was exceptionally glad that I’d driven my 4wd so that we could get to the top of the mountain. It was a rough old track requiring some “maintenance” to get to the summit. But the incredible views across the escarpment were more than worth it: It wasn’t just the cold that made this spot breathtaking!

“We really enjoyed getting up to Bimbadeen Point to take photos as newlyweds. It was so breathtakingly beautiful, and the quiet time was enough for the wedding to feel real. Our dorky, uncoordinated first dance was also a highlight as we stumbled around the dance floor laughing to ourselves.”
